The
International Union of Immunological Societies
is an umbrella organization for many of the regional
and national societies of immunology throughout
the world. As articulated in its Constitution,
the objectives of IUIS are:
- to organize international co-operation in immunology
and to promote communication between the various
branches of immunology and allied subjects
- to encourage within each scientifically independent
territory co-operation between the Societies that
represent the interests of immunology
to contribute to the advancement of immunology
in all its aspects.
The
Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies
(FOCIS) engenders cross-fertilization among the
many specialty societies that are included in
the broad field of clinical immunology. Today,
FOCIS represents nearly 30,000 clinicians and
scientists with 28 member societies.
The
European Federation of Immunological Societies
(EFIS) is the federation of 27 societies of immunology
in 31 countries in the European area. These are
the Immunological Societies of Austria, Baltic
Countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Belarus,
Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France,
Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy,
the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia,
Scandinavian Countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland,
Norway, Sweden), Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland,
Turkey, United Kingdom and Yugoslavia. Altogether,
members of Immunology Societies which belong to
EFIS are more than 16,000 immunologists.
The
European Society for Immunodeficiencies
(ESID) is a non-profit organization having multiple
aims. The main objectives are to facilitate the
exchange of ideas and information among doctors,
nurses, biomedical investigators, patients and
their families concerned with primary immunodeficiency
diseases and also to promote research on causes,
mechanisms and treatment of these disorders. Recently
ESID has initiated an educational program.
A
Sociedade Brasileira de Imunologia
representa a comunidade de imunologistas brasileiros
e tem como objetivo principal difundir a pesquisa
e o ensino em Imunologia no Brasil, tanto no que
se refere aos seus aspectos básicos como
clínicos.
